Four suspects have been charged with aggravated robbery, felony vandalism, and evading arrest in Franklin after robbing a business at the Cool Springs Galleria, say police.
This comes in the wake of five similar incidents in Tennessee and Arkansas with losses totaling more than $1.5 million, one of the crimes happening just a month prior at a Macy’s at the same mall.
Police part of the “Not in our Mall” operation were called to the scene of a crime in progress at Jared Jewelers in the Thoroughbred Village Shop Center on Saturday.
Franklin Police say a man had walked into the store wearing a hoodie, a hat, and a surgical mask.
After seeing the man was also wearing sunglasses on that dark night, a store employee proceeded to call police.
Simultaneously, undercover police close by identified the suspect, who was fleeing the scene in a van with several others in tow, and proceeded to pursue him.
After the getaway man drove the vehicle into a fire lane at the storefront JCPenney at Cool Springs Galleria, police say they saw four masked suspects depart from the van and dart into the establishment.
