Every time we do a story on the Wings of the Wind ministry in Ukraine, something wonderful happens. It happened again.
FOX 17 News has been following this unlikely group of Middle Tennessee senior citizen missionaries that continue to go to war-torn Ukraine to serve orphans.
On their last trip they provided necessities for more than 500 war orphans that hadn’t seen a single relief worker.
“The woman in charge of the orphanage, she literally cried,” said Hickman County based missionary Stu Martin.
But as they finished their October mission, a sinking feeling occurred. The rolling blackouts left kids freezing on concrete floors, and there wasn’t enough money leftover for much needed winter blankets.
“We knew they needed blankets,” said Pastor Martin. “They kept telling us there’s no heat, there’s no heat, there’s no heat.”
And so after FOX 17 News’ story aired, guess what? Viewers donated, and the Anew LIFE church in Dickson bought blankets.
