SUV Driver Killed in Morning Collision with School Bus

The SUV driver killed in this morning’s collision with a Metro school bus on Elm Hill Pike is identified as Bobby Haddix Jr., 62, of Hermitage.

Haddix was driving his Chevrolet Blazer east in the 3000 block of Elm Hill Pike just before 6 a.m. when, for an unknown reason, the SUV crossed the double yellow line into the pathway of the bus. The bus driver was unable to avoid the collision. She and another adult on the bus were transported to a hospital with minor injuries. A 15-year-old student on the bus was not hurt and was picked up at the scene by her mother.

There was no indication of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
