Sara Chambers uses TikTok to speak about “gray area” in new state law that would affect IVF

A Tennessee woman is using TikTok to highlight a “gray area” in the Human Life Protection Act that began this past August that could affect women seeking in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

Sara Chambers and her husband have been battling a severe case of infertility for over a year now.

Since they were diagnosed, they have been preparing and researching IVF.

Sara says this is the gray area within the Human Life Protection Act because IVF takes place outside of the womb.

Sara says through her research she has found there are a few options of what to do if the embryo is non-viable or has extreme deficiencies.

She says if the embryo is non-viable then it can be discarded, but she wonders if that is against the act that overturned Roe v Wade.

She decided she would reach out to Tennessee State Representative Ryan Williams to ask if discarding a non-viable embryo through IVF is against the Human Life Protection Act.
