No Charges Anticipated in Collision that Fatally Injured a Pedestrian Monday Night on Gallatin Pike

No charges are anticipated against the driver who struck and fatally injured a pedestrian on Gallatin Pike near the Briley Parkway interchange late Monday night.
The deceased is identified as Mary Ellen Basgall, 74, of Nashville.
The investigation shows that Basgall was attempting to cross Gallatin Pike when she was struck by a Ford Explorer that had just exited from Briley Parkway and was traveling north on Gallatin Pike. The driver of the Explorer, Gregory Husmann, 58, of O’Fallon, Missouri, reported that the pedestrian suddenly walked out in front of him. The area was dimly lit and the nearest available crosswalk was 455 feet away.
