A Nashville business owner is speaking out against a law banning smoking at most 21+ up businesses.
While the city says this protects musicians, long-standing smoking bars say the answer should’ve been simple. “They can go somewhere else.”
Denzel Irwin goes by ‘Santa’ and is the owner of Santa’s Pub, a dive bar in a double wide famously known as a ‘smoking bar.’
Santa says he’s been smoking for 63 years and for years people have been lighting up inside. That will change come March.
“I’ve paid taxes here all my life. We have our money buy businesses and they tell us how to run it. I think it’s wrong,” Irwin said.
Santa explains his customers aren’t happy with the recent decision.
He says smoking is smoking and if people don’t like it, they can go somewhere else.
“You got plenty of bars you can go to that don’t smoke. 99% of the bars are non-smoking so go there and sing. Don’t come here, it’s simple,” Irwin said.
