Man Arrested After Robbing Relative on Bakertown Road

A man has been arrested after he broke into a family member’s home on Bakertown Road early Friday morning with two other people and robbed the victim at gunpoint. Investigators identified Corey Montez Carney, 28, as one of the suspects that entered the victim’s home through the balcony sliding glass door.

The victim told officers that the three men, all wearing masks, demanded money from him. Two of the suspects were allegedly armed and one pistol whipped the victim before forcing him into the bathroom. The victim was able to escape and had a neighbor call police.

Officers were able to locate Carney inside the home with the victim’s credit card, checks, glasses, watch and sweatshirt on him. Carney admitted to bringing friends to the victim’s home to buy marijuana, but did not know the two suspects would rob him.

The other men involved left the scene. The victim did not identify Carney as a relative until after he was in custody.

Carney has been charged with aggravated robbery for his involvement.
