Tennesseans are responding to a Facebook post by the state Department of Child Services (DCS).
The post advertises a young man in state custody in need of a foster home. It shows a photo of the boy and a paragraph explaining more about who he is and what he enjoys.
The post -which has since been removed from the page- was shared close to six thousand times, with nearly 800 comments.
Some commenters support this approach, sending well wishes and prayers.
Others disagree, saying this could hurt the child, likening it to a post by an animal shelter seeking homes for pets.
“These kids have experienced so much trauma, and we need to make sure that we’re not adding to that trauma,” Rep. Gloria Johnson Said. Rep. Johnson is advocating for reform at DCS.
