The state’s recent redistricting of Davidson County led to confusion at the polls, with more than 430 voters who may have cast the wrong ballot.
It’s led to the Davidson County Election Commission rushing to make last-minute changes ahead of polls opening.
Here’s how voting will work Tuesday:
If you voted early and you received the wrong ballot, you’ll go to the Davidson County Election Commission headquarters for a special voter provisional ballot, which will only be used if a race is contested and by court order.
If you have not voted, show up at your regular polling site and folks will have a list of those affected. If you are affected, you will vote on a paper ballot.
If you aren’t on the list, you’ll vote regularly using the voting machines.
There was also a specially called public Metro Council meeting where Election Administrator Jeff Roberts was supposed to speak, but he didn’t show up.
“Last Friday there was a special called public meeting. Why did you decide not to attend that?” asks FOX 17 News’ Amanda Chin.
“Well, it was my understanding that the public meeting evolved into an executive session where Metro Legal was discussing pending litigation with the council and for that reason, they told us our presence was not necessary,” says Roberts.
“Do you understand though if not showing up at a public meeting would make voters concerned about transparency at all?” asks Chin.
