Metro Police are searching for five people who attacked a Buddhist monk and robbed a Nashville Temple.
The attackers robbed the Wat Lao Buddhist Temple on Old Hickory Boulevard in South Nashville Sunday morning, Metro Police report.
The victim, Nom Lengsavath, was approached by the individuals at the temple, where he lives, when he heard a knock on the door around 9 a.m. Sunday.
When he cracked the door open, the robbers forced entry inside and knocked the monk to the ground. The Buddhist monk was held on the ground there while at least two of the women in the group went through the Temple for several minutes and stole cash.
When the suspects began to leave, the monk saw that one of the women had a satchel across her body, and grabbed onto it in an attempt to prevent her from getting away.
At this time, the other attackers surged toward the monk and fought against him until the woman broke free.
