Air BNB Shooting Victim Identified, Three Others Injured

The man killed during a shooting at a short-term rental property late Thursday night has been identified as Robert D. Howard, 21. Howard was one of four victims found with gunshot wounds as a result of a suspected robbery at 210 N 9th Street.

East Precinct Detectives arrived at approximately 11:20 p.m. to find a victim with a gunshot wound to his leg asking neighbors to call for help. That victim led officers to the Air BNB rental property on 9th Street where Howard was found and pronounced dead on the scene. The other victim was transported to Skyline Medical Center where he was treated, interviewed and booked on an unrelated outstanding warrant.

During the course of the night, two other victims were found to have transported themselves to area hospitals. One victim with a gunshot wound to his buttocks walked into Skyline Medical Center. He was treated and discharged. A fourth victim self-transported to Meharry General Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to his arms, chest and stomach. That man was unable to be interviewed because of his condition and was transported to Vanderbilt in critical, but stable condition. He will be booked on an outstanding warrant once released from care.

The preliminary investigation shows drugs may have been the possible motive involved as marijuana and cash were found at the scene.

Detectives believe the shooting occurred during or just after a large party. Anyone who was there or may have information is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
