The Beacon Center of Tennessee is diving deep into how the state is spending your tax dollars.
The non-partisan free market think tank is detailing where the state fell short in spending your hard-earned money. The 2022 list proves it in 12 different examples of government waste.
To no one’s surprise, the watchdog group addressed the proposed domed Tennessee Titans stadium which would cost a whopping $2.1 billion. $500 million of that money would come from the state—making it the most expensive stadium in the NFL funded by public money.
The Beacon Center says “government should not be in the business of funding stadiums for sports team,” suggesting Tennessee leaders “get back to the basics instead of handing over a blank check to owners of sports franchises who, by the way, have yet to bring any professional championship trophy back to Tennessee.”
